Siem Reap Administration Issues New Guidelines to Enhance 38-Road Construction Quality

The Siem Reap Provincial Administration has issued four new guidelines to local authorities and construction teams to implement in order to improve the quality of the 38-road project.

According to the site inspection on 4 May, Deputy Governor Ngan Phirun said that these guidelines have been set to increase the cooperation between the local authorities and construction teams, which include:

1. All working groups must regularly monitor and evaluate construction technical issues and report them to the higher-level authorities. All construction units must also comply with technical standards to reduce waste of national budget and time.

2. The Sangkat Administration shall facilitate the request of applying for the connection of the sewage network from the local people as soon as possible.

3- The construction team must examine the technical characteristics of all equipment before installing to ensure that there will be no double work so that the project can be finished as scheduled.

4- All related authorities should speed up work on solving issues on challenging spots. So far, four locations have been resolved, while another location is still in progress.

The 38-road project has a total length of 108km and is estimated to consume a total budget of US$140 million. As of March, the project has been 30% complete, while the whole completion is set for the end of 2021. (Read more)
