Three New Eco-Tourism Destinations Proposed for Koh Kong Province

Private firms have proposed to invest in three ecotourism sites on 30 hectares in Khemara Phoumin city and Mondul Seima districts in Koh Kong province.

Koh Kong Deputy Provincial Governor Ouk Pheaktra said during a site inspection on Monday 14 June that the three proposals are currently being reviewed and studied.

“We must study carefully as the proposed locations are located in the protected areas of the Tatai Wildlife Sanctuary in Sangkat Smach Meanchey and Pak Klang communes in Mondul Seima district.”

While waiting for approval, the deputy governor has also urged the firms to take into account several factors in their investment plans.

Those include providing proper impact resettlement for locals (if the project affects any of them), building inclusive infrastructure in the surrounding area, hiring local labour, protecting nature and the environment with property waste management, and especially always following guideline and orders from the local government.
