Chinese Firm Unveils Two Smart Construction Technologies Used on PP-SHV Expressway

The Chinese firm responsible for constructing Cambodia’s first expressway has unveiled two smart technologies used on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway construction site which include an Automatic & Precise 3D Paving and the Impressive Motor Grader GCS System.

According to the official Facebook page, the 3D paver is mainly used for paving cement stabilised sub-base and asphalt pavement. By adding an automatic control system on the original paver, 3D paver saves manpower and time, compared with manual measurement and marking of elevation

Besides, with the usage of the automating motor grader GCS System, the construction is more effective in terms of labour, time, and budget. The machine helps replace a surveyor, a recorder, and a pile driver.

This automatic grader will perform the roadbed pavement task even more accurately and efficiently than manual levelling, with real-time construction control data provided.

As of June, the construction of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway reached 55% and is set for final completion by September 2022, six months ahead of schedule. (Read more)

The expressway has a total length of 190 kilometres connecting Sangkat Samrong Krom, Khan Por Senchey in Phnom Penh to Sangkat 3 in Sihanoukville.

The project is expected to cost a total of US$2 billion and is being built by China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) through the Cambodian PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd.
