Construction of China-cambodia Friendship Medical Building Soon to Begin

The China-Cambodia Friendship Medical Building located in the northern part of the Preah Kossamak Hospital campus will begin construction very soon, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Fully-funded by the Chinese government, the “China-Cambodia Friendship Medical Building” will be a comprehensive teaching hospital with 400 beds and equipped with modern equipment.

Comprising of 3-4 buildings, the new hospital building will covers an area of 12,900 square metres with an 11-storey high in-patient department on one of the building. In addition, the new building will connect with the old building through bridges and there will also be a ring road surrounding the new campus.

The new building has been designed by integrating Cambodia and China’s architectural elements. Moreover, according to the video presentation posted on social media by the Ministry of Health (MoH), there are three main design concepts incorporated comprising of 1) clear hospital master plan to facilitate its development and management such as the division of the out-patient and in-patient departments 2) clear main street design to ease functional flow and create an efficient and safe hospital and 3) green design to reduce energy consumption.

Once construction is completed, this new friendship hospital will be a comprehensive modern hospital featuring a rational function, clean and clear process, advance equipment and an excellent healing environment.
