Plan to Construct Chak Angre Krom- Prek Pra Bridge Receives Approval from PM Hun Sen

The plan to build a new bridge as an alternative to the heavily congested Monivong Bridge across the Bassac River connecting Chak Angre Krom and Prek Pra communes has already been approved by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The update of the plan was confirmed by the Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol on 21 December during a meeting with students of Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport.

“The project to build another bridge across the Bassac River at Chak Angre Krom to reduce traffic congestion across the Monivong Bridge has now been approved by the Prime Minister,” he said.

However, HE Sun Chanthol has not confirmed the details or date of construction yet.

The government has announced plans and began studying this project in 2019. According to the plan, the bridge will be located between Monivong Bridge and Prek Samrong Bridge, with two options that have been considered, according to Fresh news.

The first option is to connect Toul Roka 1 village of Chak Angre Krom commune and Prek Tapov village of Prek Pra commune. It could start from Neak Oknha Hun Neang Blvd., crossing NR2, Street 369, and connecting to Road 30-50m. This one could have a total length of 887m.

Meanwhile, option two will connect Prek Talong 2 village of Chak Angre Krom commune and O Andong village of Prek Pra commune. The bridge could start from the Neak Oknha Hun Neang Blvd, crossing NR2, and connecting Street 369. This option will have a total length of 900m.
