Local Firm LSCG Wins Bid to Install 70MW Solar Power System at New PP Airport

Local firm LSCG Real Estate Co., Ltd has won a bid to install a 70MW solar power system at the new Techo International Airport.

According to LSCG CEO Ly Sokchhay, the contract agreement was signed on 22 February with an investment value of US$168 million.

“The project is the cooperation between our partners in China. Therefore, the solar panels and other equipment will be imported directly from China along with other modern know-how technology and experts,” said Mr Ly.

“The system will be installed at the east side of the airport and will be done in three phases. Meanwhile, the installation is set to begin in the next several months, aiming for completion before the airport construction,” he added.

Mr Ly explained that solar energy is green renewable energy that will not only help the airport operation be more cost-effective and cleaner, but also help increase the value of the airport construction in terms of sustainability.

As of late January, the US$1.5 billion Techo International Airport project was 30% complete with a total amount of US$390 million spent excluding the cost of purchasing the land.

The airport is a massive investment project by OCIC’s subsidiary Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd (CIAC) stretching over a 2,600-hectare plot with the first phase of the construction set to finish by 2023. (Read more)
