As of 2023, Cambodia has more than 1,200 farming communities worth over US$ 26m

Cambodia’s agricultural communities have grown to 1,251 in number, with a total investment capital of over US$26 million, according to the closing ceremony of the Agricultural Community Work Conference 2022 and the direction for 2023 on 14 March, 2023.

The communities, consisting of 170,208 members, 107,380 of whom are women, engage in agricultural production, agribusiness, agro-industry, and the provision of support services for agricultural production. Major crops produced by these communities include rice, seeds, vegetables, mango, turmeric, pepper, lentils, Pailin, corn, cashews, and cassava.

According to HE Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the ministry will provide additional support in finding investment partners and obtaining low-interest loans to promote the establishment of funds to help build and expand communities. This support will enable producers to achieve profitability and economic sustainability while contributing to reducing agricultural imports from abroad.

In addition to creating economic opportunities for the communities, these farming communities also contribute to reducing Cambodia’s reliance on agricultural imports. With the ministry’s continued support, these communities are expected to grow and thrive, bringing further benefits to their members and the country.
