Kampong Thom to Open New USD 25 Million Agro-Industrial Factory in June 2026

Kampong Thom Province is poised to strengthen its agricultural and industrial base with the establishment of a new mixed agro-industrial processing factory scheduled to open in June 2026. Developed by AVC Investment Co., Ltd., the project represents an investment of USD 25 million and spans 57 hectares in Pokok Commune, Stoung District.

In late October 2025, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Vongsey Vissoth led a field visit to the construction site to assess project progress and discuss challenges faced by investors, producers, and local farmers. The visit reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to promoting value-added agricultural production, enhancing productivity, and improving rural livelihoods.

The upcoming facility will focus primarily on processing cassava into flour and chips, a major crop in Kampong Thom, where more than 54,000 hectares are cultivated annually, yielding approximately 1.2 million tons. The factory also incorporates sustainable production methods, utilizing waste materials to convert them into organic fertilizer, animal feed, and bioenergy.

Beyond cassava processing, the plant will feature a wood pellet production line and a fruit freezing facility, broadening its operational scope and increasing its investment potential. Deputy Prime Minister Vongsey Vissoth highlighted Kampong Thom’s strong agricultural prospects, with a particular emphasis on its rubber plantations, which cover approximately 73,000 hectares.

With construction advancing as planned, the new factory is expected to commence operations in mid-2026, generating employment opportunities, enhancing agro-industrial competitiveness, and contributing to the sustainable economic growth of Kampong Thom Province.
