Scandinavian Airlines Pioneers All-Electric Flight Experience with Bookings Now Open

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has made a groundbreaking announcement on 2nd June, revealing that bookings are now open for its inaugural commercial flights on electricity-powered planes, scheduled to commence in 2028.

In a press release issued by the airline, SAS has commenced registration for 30 coveted seats on one of its three all-electric inaugural flights. Notably, guests will only be required to make payments 30 days prior to the departure date, offering flexibility and convenience.

Emphasizing its long-standing commitment to innovation, SAS aims to revolutionize air travel with this landmark venture. While specific details regarding flight distance and destination remain undisclosed at present, the airline assures passengers that this transformative experience will contribute to a sustainable future.

The remarkable ES-30 aircraft employed by SAS promises a carbon-neutral journey, devoid of CO2 emissions, NOX, and ultrafine particulates. Achieving this feat is made possible by the ES-30’s cutting-edge design, which integrates four electric motors utilizing a combination of batteries and hybrid turbogenerators.

To commemorate SAS’s historic milestone, the price of these electrifying flights has been set at 1,946 Swedish Krona ($180). This symbolic figure represents the year of SAS’s inaugural flight, aligning the present with the airline’s illustrious aviation heritage.
