Catalysing Cambodia’s Digital Transformation: Two Ministries Join Forces to Launch Verify.gov.kh

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) and the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts (MPWT) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation, marking the birth of a verification database, Verify.gov.kh. This transformative move is set to revitalize Cambodia’s digital governance landscape, aligned with the nation’s Digital Government policy for 2022-2035.

The MoU paves the way for the comprehensive digitalization of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts (CAVE), bolstering its internal digital transformation. Underpinned by Cambodia’s Digital Government agenda, this strategic collaboration adheres to the principles of the first pentagonal strategy, reinforcing the nation’s technological prowess.

Key facets of this collaboration include:

  1. QR Codes for Verification: Introduction of standard QR Codes for degrees, certificates, and other documents from educational institutions under CAVE, streamlining the verification process via Verify.gov.kh.
  2. Network Infrastructure Enhancement: Augmentation of networking infrastructure and internet connectivity, tailored to meet practical needs.
  3. Digital Device & Software Regulations: Establishment of guidelines for the use of state-owned computers, digital devices, and licensed software in daily operations.
  4. Professional Training: Identification of officers for specialized training to align with evolving digital technologies.
  5. Action Planning: Consultation within the framework of the Digital Government Committee for well-structured action plans.

The significance of this MoU cannot be overstated. It marks the fifth occasion where Cambodia has initiated cooperation agreements, ushering in the Verify.gov.kh Document Verification platform and digitalization in various ministries, government institutions, and higher education establishments following successful collaborations with three ministries and 21 higher education institutions in the past.

This forward-thinking approach underscores Cambodia’s commitment to harnessing the full potential of digital technology for the nation’s growth and development.

*** The digital transformation, characterized by leveraging advancements in information and communication technology, aligns perfectly with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This journey aims to boost productivity, drive economic growth, foster a digital society and economy, and ultimately benefit the nation’s citizens while ensuring sustained economic development.
