Techo International Airport Nears Full Operation as Runways and Infrastructure Achieve 100% Completion

The horizon of Cambodia’s aviation landscape has been steadily changing, and a significant milestone has been reached. As of 4 November 2023, the runway and all associated infrastructure at Techo International Airport have been finalised and completed. This announcement underscores the tireless efforts and dedication invested in this transformative project.

The momentous achievement was confirmed by Mr Ly Sok Chhay, General Director of LSCG Group, the entity entrusted with the monumental task of constructing the airport’s runway and related infrastructure. Speaking on 5 November 2023, Mr Ly Sok Chhay revealed that his company, in collaboration with partners from MCC and a dedicated team, worked incessantly to meet this remarkable milestone ahead of schedule.

Building a state-of-the-art runway, complete with an advanced irrigation system and other essential infrastructure, in compliance with stringent US standards, required an investment exceeding US$175 million. Notably, these Herculean efforts persisted even during the challenging times of the global pandemic.

The culmination of this monumental endeavor was commemorated with an inspection visit by HE Dr. Seang Bunleang and Lok Chumteav Akka Moha Upasika Hun Bunthoeun alongside their colleagues on 4 November 2023.

During this visit, both expressed unwavering support for this extraordinary investment project and extended their heartfelt gratitude to the participating companies, construction firms, and dedicated contractors who poured years of relentless work into making this vision a reality.

Techo International Airport, an ambitious project with an investment value of approximately US$1.5 billion, is currently under development by OCIC. Once fully operational, this airport will ascend to become the ninth-largest globally, earning recognition as a 4F airport.
