Massive Crackdown: Authorities Seize Nearly 10,000 Hectares in Pursat in Just 21 Days

In a sweeping operation targeting natural resource crime, a joint task force in Pursat province confiscated nearly 10,000 hectares of land and apprehended 30 individuals.

The Ministry of Environment’s official Facebook page disclosed the findings on 1 April 2024, revealing that over the course of 21 days, from 11-31 March 2024, authorities conducted a rigorous crackdown, resulting in the seizure of 9,800.82 hectares of land.

Moreover, 30 suspects were apprehended, and legal action was initiated against 16 cases. This collaborative effort, involving various ministries, institutions, and law enforcement agencies, underscores the government’s commitment to combating natural resource crimes.

Furthermore, the enforcement team took action against illegal encroachments by dismantling 479 temporary huts constructed on forest land within protected areas.

Additionally, various materials were confiscated as evidence of the unlawful activities. It is imperative to highlight that this operation represents a concerted effort led by the MoE, in collaboration with other relevant ministries, institutions, and law enforcement agencies. Notably, during the initial five days of the operation, the Joint Task Force successfully seized approximately 3,942.73 hectares of land in Pursat province, underscoring the scale and effectiveness of the ongoing crackdown on natural resource crime.
