Kampong Speu Authorities confiscated 1,400 hectares of forest land in Oral district

In the first five months of 2024, Kampong Speu provincial authorities decided to confiscate more than 1,400 hectares of forest land in Kampong Speu province’s Oral district as state property after illegal land acquisition.

This is according to the orders of the three administrations of Kampong Speu province, which include:

First, an order issued on April 13, 2024, Kampong Speu Provincial Authority has decided to reject and confiscate forest land that has been cleared for encroachment on state forest land in order to illegally take ownership of some land. The total area of 136 hectares is in the Oral Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary at the point of Poiroi, Samrong Village, Trapeang Cho Commune, Oral District, Kampong Speu Province.

Second, the order dated April 25, 2024, decided to reject and confiscate the forest land with a total area of 374 hectares 93 acres in the Phnom Oral Wildlife Sanctuary in Trapeang Thieu village, Ta Sal commune, Oral district, Kampong Speu province.

Third, the order dated 21 May 2024 decided to reject and confiscate 893 hectares of forest land in Phnom Oral Wildlife Sanctuary in Po Meas Village, Trapeang Cho Commune, Oral District, Kampong Speu Province.
