Cambodia announces first successful export of cashew nuts by air to China’s Henan market

On September 22, 2024, Cambodia successfully exported 2 tons of cashew products by air to Henan Province, China. This marks the first successful export of cashew nuts to China’s Henan market. The decision to export was made after two meetings in July and August on the cooperation between Cambodian and Chinese crop industry officials.

The export was made possible through the efforts of professional officers from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Economy, who carefully implemented policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and hygiene requirements set by the Chinese government and buyers in China.

The cashew nuts exported were of the local variety called M23, known for their good quality, large size, and delicious taste. Following this successful export, Cambodia plans to ship cashew nuts by air to Henan every week.

It’s worth noting that in the first seven months of 2024, Cambodia produced over 830,000 tons of raw cashew nuts, marking a 36.7 percent increase and making Cambodia the world’s second-largest exporter of cashew nuts. While Cambodia has been exporting cashew nuts to China, this marks the first time it has exported to Henan.
