ADATA Technology Eyes Electric Car Factory Investment in Cambodia

In a significant development for Cambodia’s green industry, well-known Taiwanese tech company ADATA Technology Co., Ltd. is exploring opportunities to invest in an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the country.

During a meeting held on 2 January 2024, HE Dr Eang Sophalleth, the Minister of Environment, welcomed Mr. Simon Chen, CEO of ADATA Technology. The company showcased its commitment to producing electric vehicles and batteries, shifting away from traditional internal combustion engines powered by gasoline.

Minister Sophalleth underscored that such investments in Cambodia’s green sector align with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, highlighting the importance of adhering to these international standards for mutual benefit. He further noted that Cambodia provides a favorable carbon-neutral environment conducive to economic growth and elevated living standards for its citizens.

In July 2024, ADATA Technology also met with the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) to assess the viability of its investment plans. The company is looking at an investment of approximately USD 100 million between 2024 and 2027 to set up electronic processing plants and high-tech industrial parks.

Founded in 2001, ADATA Technology has established itself as a major player in the international tech market, with manufacturing facilities located in the United States, China, and India. It has invested nearly USD 94.5 million, becoming the largest manufacturer of DRAM and SSDs in Asia and ranking second globally, with a market valuation exceeding USD 945 million. (Read more)
