Techo International Airport Officially Opens, Expanding Cambodia’s Connectivity

After much anticipation, the Cambodian government has officially inaugurated Techo International Airport, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s transportation infrastructure. The opening ceremony took place this morning of 09th Sept 2025, with the national airline Air Cambodia operating the inaugural flight, K6 611, landing at the new facility.

The airport, constructed to enhance travel connectivity for both national and international visitors, aims to position Cambodia as a key player in the global tourism market. According to an announcement on the President’s official Facebook page, the airport is set to serve the increasing demand for travel, welcoming more tourists to experience the rich culture and history of Cambodia.

Techo International Airport is being developed in three comprehensive phases. The first phase features a 4-kilometer runway designed to accommodate over 15 million passengers annually by 2025. Following this, the second phase will see the addition of two more runways, boosting the airport’s capacity to 30 million passengers by 2030. The final phase will introduce a third runway, poised to support up to 45 million passengers by 2050.

This ambitious project reflects Cambodia’s commitment to enhancing its aviation sector and improving the overall travel experience for millions of passengers. As the airport begins its operations, officials express optimism about the potential for increased tourism and economic growth, paving the way for a brighter future for the country.
