Cambodian Cashew Nuts Set to Shine in Chinese Market with New Processing Plant

In a significant development for the agriculture sector, a partnership between the Cambodian company Kampu Nuts Agro Product and China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH) is poised to bring advanced technology to the local cashew industry. The two companies are planning to establish a state-of-the-art cashew nut processing plant in Cambodia, aimed at meeting the surging demand in the Chinese market.

During a meeting with His Excellency Hem Vandy, Cambodia’s Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, on September 9, 2025, company representatives emphasized the quality of Cambodian cashews and their commitment to enhancing processing capabilities within the country. “We recognize that Cambodia produces large and high-quality cashew nuts. Our goal is to process them here, capitalizing on local resources and expertise,” they stated.

Minister Hem Vandy expressed strong support for the initiative, highlighting the Royal Government’s commitment to developing the processing sector and enhancing the value chain for cashew production. “We are prioritizing the introduction of modern technologies and techniques that align with safety and quality standards,” he noted. The Ministry is prepared to assist with laboratory services, standard compliance, and collaboration with key stakeholders to boost productivity in the sector.

Furthermore, His Excellency encouraged both companies to focus on training local farmers and integrating value chains to elevate the entire cashew industry in Cambodia. This initiative is expected to not only increase the efficiency of local cashew processing but also significantly contribute to the economic development of the region.

As Cambodia continues to establish itself as a hub for high-quality agricultural products, this partnership signals a promising future for Cambodian cashew nuts on the international stage.
