Cambodia and India Unite to Enhance Education and Water Systems

In a landmark collaboration, Cambodia and India have pledged to improve educational infrastructure and water systems in two key provinces. On October 1, 2025, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia and the Indian Embassy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under India’s Grant Assistance Program for the Implementation of the Quick Impact Project (QIP).

The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Youth, alongside H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, Ambassador of India to Cambodia. This partnership aims to bolster the education sector and enhance resource sustainability in Cambodia, focusing on Kampong Cham and Pursat provinces.

The MoU outlines two pivotal projects for implementation over the 2025-2026 period. Project 1 will establish a Climate Resilient School Water System, incorporating a solar-powered water system in six schools in Pursat province. This initiative aims to provide accessible and sustainable water sources, addressing crucial health and sanitation needs.

Project 2 focuses on the Standard Model School Development in Kampong Cham province, which includes the construction of a toilet equipped with hand-washing facilities, a solar water system, and a dedicated computer lab. This project is designed to improve facilities and foster a conducive learning environment for students.

Both the Ministry of Education and the Embassy of India reaffirm their commitment to fostering quality human resource development in Cambodia, aligning with the Royal Government’s vision. This collaborative effort not only aims to enhance educational standards but also to strengthen community health and resilience in the face of climate challenges.

With these initiatives, Cambodia and India are taking significant strides towards building a brighter future for the next generation, ensuring that education and essential resources are accessible to all.
