Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge in Kratie Province Set to Open in April 2026

The Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge, spanning the Mekong River in Kratie Province, is nearing completion, with construction reportedly nearly 100% complete. This promising update was shared by H.E. Phorn Rim, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, during a press briefing earlier this week.

The highly anticipated bridge is scheduled to open to the public on April 1, 2026, eliminating any further road closures. As of early November, the bridge has reached a construction milestone of 98.36%, with final touches, including traffic markings and the installation of bridge lighting poles, expected to be completed before the upcoming Khmer New Year.

In addition to the bridge itself, significant work is underway on connecting roads. The construction company has committed to finishing the main connecting road and side roads as stipulated in the project contract.

H.E. Phorn Rim emphasized the strategic importance of the project, highlighting that once completed, the Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge, along with its connecting infrastructure, is expected to boost the national economy and enhance transportation efficiency. The overall project, which boasts a budget of USD 111 million funded by the People’s Republic of China, is currently at an overall completion rate of 87.39%.

The bridge is situated at Talus Village in Boslao Commune, Chet Borei District, on the eastern side, and at Thma Rap Village in Prek Prasap Commune, Prek Prasap District, on the western side. (Read more)
