Us$12 Million Runway Renovation Project Completed

The renovation of the multi-million dollar airport runway project is completed, according to the official press release.

On 15 November, 2018, the developer and operator of Cambodia’s three airports, Cambodia Airports, announced the completion of the renovation project at Phnom Penh International Airport.

According to the company, the renovation project of the 3000-metre long runway cost about US$12 million, while construction was completed within seven months.

With the well-trained and experienced team working on the project, this renovated infrastructure will increase the capacity and quality of the operation of Phnom Penh International Airport.

According to Cambodia Airports, the project is able to increase runway safety and improve comfort for aircraft landings and take-offs. Additionally, the renovated runway is also equipped with blast protection and shoulder overlay as well as an upgrade of aeronautical ground lighting and use of LED lights to minimise carbon emission.

Cambodia Airports CEO Mr Eric Delobel expressed his confidence in the project, stating in the press release that, “Phnom Penh International Airport is equipped with a runway system that can accommodate traffic for the next 10-15 years”.
