A2A Town Cambodia invests in 10,000-hectare scientific EDU and ecotourism site in Kirirom

The Kirirom for Everyone project or “vKirirom” situated a 10,000 hectare plot which is an investment by a Japanese company will transform the Kirirom mountainous area into a multifunctional scientific and educational centre and ecotourism site.

The project, surrounded by pine forests and hills, located in Kirirom, Kampong Speu province, will include construction of an educational institution, eco-resorts, and ecotourism homestays. The purpose of this project is to strengthen and enhance the value of education on information technology and eco-tourism, to create a place for simultaneous relaxation and study for both Cambodian and foreign students and including Japanese.

During a meeting with Bekku Kenzaburo, Vice President of A2A Town Cambodia Co., Ltd, on 22 June 2020, HE Cham Prasidh, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation expressed his support for the project and showed his willingness to strengthen cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation, which has recently been integrated into the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation.

HE Cham Prasidh, stated that, “The ministry is very much in need of knowledge and human resources in science as well as technology and innovation especially in this circumstance in which the world is competitive in technological advancement especially the trend of industrial revolution 4.0 and the digital economy.”

“… we both have to work together … for the training of the human resources … as well as to achieve the creation of the science and technology park.” said Prasidh.

The ‘Preah Suramarit-Kossamak Kirirom National Park’ or in short Kirirom park was the first officially designated national park in Cambodia with size of 283.8 square kilometres. The Japanese A2A Town Company has been granted a license to develop the Kirirom National Park since 2011 on a 2,000-hectare economic land concession.

Notably, there is currently a well-known project called vKirirom Pine Resort as well as the Kirirom Institute of Technology (KIT) for training in software engineering. The vKirirom Pine Resort project is built as a family-friendly lodge with bungalows, small villas, a Khmer-style cottage, and a family-friendly and one-bedroom resort.

In addition to being a recreation area, the site has also been set up as a sustainable development area that includes natural resources, crop cultivation and other sustainable projects developed by students of the Kirirom Institute of Technology (KIT).
