Koh Kong Province Nears Milestone in Land Registration with 60,000 Plots Measured

According to Lok Chumteav Mithona Phu Thong, Governor of Koh Kong Province, nearly 60,000 plots of land have been meticulously measured in Koh Kong province as of April 2024, marking a significant step towards the province’s goal of completing systematic land registration by 2025.

This ambitious initiative was highlighted during a meeting on 7 May 2024, attended by HE Say Sam Al, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, underscoring the provincial administration’s commitment to advancing geographical land registration.

The Department of Land Management’s efforts have culminated in the surveying of 59,400 plots, leading to the establishment of a judgment area encompassing 65 villages across 3 communes, 21 communes, 1 city, and 6 districts. To date, the province has finalised registration for 51,756 plots, issued 30,260 land titles, and successfully distributed 25,426 titles to residents, significantly contributing to the security of land ownership and the resolution of land disputes.

In addition to land registration, the Koh Kong provincial administration is actively engaged in the organisation of provincial towns, cities, districts, and social land concessions, adhering to stringent technical regulations and construction standards. These measures aim to ensure the quality, safety, and aesthetic appeal of urban and rural development within the province.

Despite the progress, Koh Kong province faces the challenge of completing land registration for an additional 56,682 plots across 61 villages, 17 communes, and 6 districts, as outlined by the Ministry of Planning’s strategy. The province’s dedicated pursuit of systematic land registration by 2025 reflects a broader effort to promote transparency, legal certainty, and sustainable development in one of Cambodia’s key provinces.
