Australia Supports Cambodia to Improve Physical Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities

Australia has supported Cambodia to improve physical accessibility for persons with disabilities through a dissemination workshop on the Physical Infrastructure Design Standards on Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities.

Through the Australia-Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services (ACCESS), the workshop was held on 01 July 2022.

This dissemination workshop aimed to promote the implementation of technical standards and encouraged engineering and architecture students to participate in a design competition focused on physical accessibility standards.

In addition, ACCESS has produced five animation clips to raise public awareness of the importance of physical accessibility standards and also constructed 25 accessible ramps as a physical accessibility engineering model.

In relevance to supporting persons with disabilities, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) has also urged developers to include infrastructure facilitating disabled people in their construction projects, to create equality and inclusive society. (Read more)
