Enserv Holding Australia Explores Investment in Transformative Sorghum Processing for Biogas & High-Protein Rice in Cambodia

Enserv Holding Australia has conveyed its keen interest in investing in sorghum processing in Cambodia in a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet and Mr. Tanachat Pochana, the company’s President,  during the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne on 4 March 2024.

The company envisions leveraging sorghum to produce low-calorie, high-protein rice, with an added focus on generating biogas. The interest highlights the versatile nature of sorghum, emphasising its potential to thrive across various soil types with lower water requirements compared to traditional rice crops.

Mr. Pochana articulated the company’s commitment to cultivating sorghum in Cambodia, emphasizing its eco-friendly attributes, including carbon dioxide absorption. Mr. Pochana underscored the intention to process sorghum into finished products for export, recognising Cambodia’s favourable agricultural conditions.

In response, PM Hun Manet highlighted Cambodia’s strategic shift away from approving coal-fired power plants, aligning with the country’s commitment to adopting new and modern technologies in the energy sector. The Prime Minister welcomed Enserv Holding Australia’s exploration of investment opportunities and encouraged the company to collaborate with relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, under the coordination of the Council for the Development of Cambodia and the Ministry of Commerce.
