Australian-Cambodian Partnership Launches 1,000-Hectare Smart Corn Farm in Siem Reap

AG AGRIBUSINESS ASIA (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD. has collaborated with ING Holdings Co., Ltd. in Cambodia to inaugurate a state-of-the-art corn farm spanning approximately 1,000 hectares in Siem Reap province.

During the inauguration ceremony on 25 March 2024, attended by HE Prak Sophoan, Governor of Siem Reap, Mr. Benjamine Bootle, Managing Director of AGG Business Asia, and Mr. Ing Siv Khov Akka, Director of ING Holdings Co., Ltd., the partnership marked a significant milestone in agricultural development.

Situated in Chea Sman village, Meanchey commune, Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province, the corn farm boasts the latest agricultural technology, aimed at revolutionising farming practices in Cambodia.

Mr. Ing Siv Khov expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders in realising the ambitious corn farm project. With the integration of cutting-edge agricultural technology, the farm aims to enhance competitiveness and elevate Siem Reap’s agricultural landscape.

Mr. Benjamine Bootle reiterated the commitment to introducing smart agriculture practices nationwide. The implementation of unprecedented agricultural technology in Cambodia is expected to mitigate environmental impacts while boosting productivity.

Furthermore, Mr. Bootle emphasised the adoption of precision farming techniques, advanced irrigation systems, and innovative water treatment methods on the farm, highlighting the focus on sustainable agricultural practices.

Looking ahead, Mr. Bootle envisions diversifying crop cultivation on the farm to include cotton, soybeans, grains, and high-yield rice. These initiatives not only contribute to economic stability but also foster agricultural sustainability in Cambodia, ensuring a prosperous future for generations to come.
