Bentley Systems has introduced OpenRoads Designer 2026, the latest version of its road design software, designed to help engineers deliver transportation projects faster, more accurately, and with greater reliability.

The software supports engineers in designing road alignments, terrain models, corridors, grading, drainage systems, and construction documentation for major infrastructure projects.

With large events increasing demand for better roads and transportation networks, OpenRoads Designer helps teams manage complex designs while reducing errors and improving efficiency.

The 2026 version introduces new tools, including faster terrain setup through Cesium World Terrain import, improved alignment management, enhanced line-of-sight analysis, and more reliable design file validation. Bentley Copilot, an AI-powered assistant, also provides engineers with real-time guidance inside the software, helping users solve problems and improve productivity.

OpenRoads Designer 2026 includes more than 300 improvements across key workflows, strengthening performance in areas such as geometry, terrain, drainage, and data management.

Combined with previous innovations like AI-powered annotation tools, Google Maps, and 3D integration, and civil file health monitoring, Bentley’s technology helps engineering teams create safer, smarter, and more efficient transportation infrastructure.
