Cambodia and the United States are collaborating to construct an organic bran processing plant in Cambodia

Amru Rice (Cambodia) and Stabil Nutrition, LLC of the United States recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to invest in the construction of the plant.

The MoU signing ceremony took place on September 23, 2024, in San Francisco, and was presided over by HE Sun Chanthol, First Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, Oknha Song Saran, CEO of Amru Rice (Cambodia), and Michael Tarrasch, Representative of Stabil Nutrition, LLC.

The purpose of the MoU is to establish cooperation in setting up organic bran processing plants in Cambodia using US machinery and technology.

Additionally, on September 22, the Cambodian Rice Federation and the US Otis McAllister Inc. signed another MoU focusing on strengthening business cooperation and increasing the amount of Cambodian rice for export to the US market.

As a result of these agreements, the presence of rice labelled “Made in Cambodia” is expected to increase in the United States, particularly in supermarket chains such as Costco and Walmart.
