Cambodia’s 44 SEZs Drive Almost 200k Job Creation & Economic Growth

Cambodia currently boasts 44 special economic zones (SEZs), generating nearly 200,000 employment opportunities. This was highlighted by HE Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Committee of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), during a meeting on 2 July 2024 with a delegation from Greenleaf Sci. & Tech Group Co., Ltd., led by Xi Jiancheng.

HE Chea Vuthy emphasised that Cambodia’s peaceful and politically stable environment has facilitated the establishment of these SEZs, which employ approximately 187,000 workers and contribute significantly to the diversification of industries for Cambodia’s socioeconomic development. The purpose of the meeting was to enhance mutual understanding regarding investment potential between Cambodia and China.

Xi Jiancheng, head of the delegation, indicated that Greenleaf Sci. & Tech Group Co., Ltd., which specialises in importing raw materials from Malaysia to produce cosmetic products, is gradually gaining traction in the Cambodian market. He emphasised that Cambodia’s strong relations with the Chinese government among ASEAN countries make it an attractive location for companies considering investment opportunities.

Notably, Greenleaf Sci. & Tech Group Co., Ltd., based in the National Technology Zone of Suzhou, is currently investing in approximately 3,600 Greenleaf Supermarkets globally. However, the CDC encouraged the company to explore investing in establishing industrial zones in Cambodia to serve as a production base for regional and global markets.
