Cambodia-Korea Food Processing Technology Center Officially Inaugurated

The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation has proudly inaugurated the Cambodia-Korea Food Processing Technology Center, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing food processing capabilities and boosting the competitiveness of the food manufacturing sector in Cambodia. The grand opening ceremony took place on August 6, 2025, under the leadership of HE Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

The new center boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a prototype production line, a food quality and safety analysis department, a technical support division for enterprises, and an exhibition hall showcasing local and Korean products. This facility is designed to empower local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by improving the safety and quality of their food products.

During the inauguration, HE Hem Vandy emphasized the center’s potential impact, stating, “This new center represents a major step forward in creating opportunities for local SMEs. It will enhance the safety and quality of food products and help create added value for local offerings, generate jobs, and stimulate economic growth.”

Dr. Paik Hyun Dong, President of the Korea Food Research Institute (KFRI), also highlighted the project’s importance. “This initiative not only provides essential technical support but also focuses on building infrastructure, training experts, and assisting SMEs in their journey toward industrialization and market entry. We envision the Cambodia-Korea Food Processing Technology Center as a cornerstone for the future development of Cambodia’s food industry,” he noted.

Equipped with a cutting-edge prototype production line featuring 83 modern machines, the center enables local enterprises to experiment with new food products. The machines are adept at processing raw materials such as meat, vegetables, and grains into a wide variety of noodles, snacks, beverages, and health foods.

Additionally, the Food Quality and Safety Analysis Division includes 34 advanced technological instruments, such as HPLC-MSMS and ICP-OES machines. These tools are critical for accurate analysis of nutrients, toxins, additives, pesticide residues, heavy metals, and microbial contaminants. This support will facilitate Cambodian food products in obtaining international certifications like HACCP and GMP.

The Cambodia-Korea Food Processing Technology Center is set to play a vital role in the nation’s food industry, fostering innovation, quality, and safety in food production.
