Strengthening Ties in Seafood Processing Between Cambodia and Vietnam

In a significant move to boost bilateral trade relations, Cambodia and Vietnam have announced a joint initiative aimed at enhancing cooperation in the production of processed food and seafood products. This decision was made during a trade promotion meeting held at the HungHau Food Company, with the participation of the Commercial Attaché from the Cambodian Embassy in Vietnam.

The meeting, organized by Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce, focused on exploring opportunities for trade cooperation, particularly within the agro-industrial sector. Key discussions emphasized the importance of processed food production and seafood, encouraging private enterprises from both nations to engage actively in identifying new business partnerships.

“This collaboration not only fosters better trade relations between Cambodia and Vietnam but also establishes a platform for private businesses to thrive,” said a spokesperson from Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce.

Additionally, it was highlighted that Cambodia is also pursuing cooperative efforts with Malaysia in the halal food processing industry. A recent meeting between His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and His Excellency Shaharuddin Onn, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Cambodia, laid the groundwork for further investments and collaboration in this sector.

Both initiatives signal a promising future for Cambodia and its regional partners, underscoring the countries’ commitment to enhancing their agricultural and food processing industries. Stakeholders are optimistic that these partnerships will lead to increased economic opportunities and further solidify the ties between the nations.
