Cambodia and Uzbekistan Pledge to Deepen Bilateral Trade and Investment Ties

Leaders from both nations commit to expanding multi-sector cooperation, building on over three decades of diplomatic relations during a high-level meeting in Baku

Cambodia and Uzbekistan have formally agreed to strengthen and broaden their bilateral relations across all levels, with a steadfast commitment to elevating cooperation in trade and investment. This diplomatic milestone stems from a bilateral meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The discussions took place during an official visit and attendance at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from October 11 to 15, 2026.

During the talks, the two leaders exchanged extensive views on maximizing mutual potential, placing special emphasis on driving growth in trade, investment, tourism, and education. They also underscored the importance of fostering deeper cultural exchanges and strengthening people-to-people connections. President Mirziyoyev expressed strong confidence that the engagement would serve as a vital catalyst for flourishing bilateral ties, a sentiment warmly echoed by Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Reflecting on more than 30 years of diplomatic relations, both heads of state praised the enduring partnership and concurred that vast, untapped potential remains. To secure mutual benefits for their citizens, they agreed to maintain regular, comprehensive high-level official exchanges, reinforce existing bilateral cooperation frameworks, and actively encourage closer business-to-business linkages between the private sectors of both countries.
