Pakistan Pledges to Expand Cooperation with Cambodia in Postal, Railway, and Defence Sectors

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has pledged to deepen bilateral ties with the Kingdom of Cambodia across critical infrastructure and public service sectors, including postal networks, railway development, and defence. The diplomatic commitment was established during a bilateral working session between H.E. Loy Sophat, Chairman of the Cambodia-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group and Chairman of the National Assembly’s 3rd Commission, and H.E. Rana Shamaila, Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and member of the Pakistan-Cambodia Parliamentary Friendship Group. The meeting took place on August 26, 2026, in Phnom Penh on the sidelines of the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference.

During the session, H.E. Loy Sophat highlighted that both parliamentary delegations agreed to continuously reinforce inter-parliamentary relations through high-level visit exchanges and legislative knowledge sharing. By exchanging technical expertise and policy experiences between their respective lawmaking bodies, both countries aim to foster mutually beneficial legislative frameworks that directly support social and economic growth for their populations.

Focusing on strategic sector collaboration, H.E. Rana Shamaila expressed Pakistan’s readiness to advance joint initiatives in postal logistics, railway operations, and military affairs with Cambodia. To establish a dedicated institutional foundation for these expanding ties, the Pakistani lawmaker formally invited Cambodia to consider opening a resident diplomatic embassy in Pakistan, noting that an established embassy in Islamabad would significantly streamline administrative, commercial, and diplomatic exchanges between the two nations.

Both parliamentary leaders reaffirmed a shared consensus to leverage legislative diplomacy to promote peace, regional stability, and long-term prosperity. The meeting underscored the growing momentum in Cambodia-Pakistan relations as both nations seek to transform long-standing diplomatic friendship into practical cooperation in transportation, logistics, and bilateral security.
