Cambodia and New Zealand Commit to Expanding Strategic Cooperation in Trade, Renewable Energy, and Technology Transfer

In high-level talks with Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Ambassador Raylene Siale Tagaloa Liufalani pledges to strengthen bilateral ties, vocational training, and regional collaboration

Cambodia and New Zealand have reaffirmed their mutual commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across key high-potential sectors, focusing on economic trade, direct investment, technology transfer, and renewable energy transition. The pledge was formalized during an official meeting at the Peace Palace on September 28, 2026, between Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and H.E. Ms. Raylene Siale Tagaloa Liufalani, Ambassador of New Zealand to Cambodia.

During the courtesy call, Ambassador Liufalani expressed high appreciation for the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations, voicing pride in New Zealand’s historical contributions toward Cambodia’s reconstruction and socio-economic development. She pledged to actively advance bilateral collaboration and deepen engagement across both bilateral frameworks and broader regional forums throughout her tenure.

Welcoming the envoy, Prime Minister Hun Manet acknowledged New Zealand’s valuable support in supporting the Kingdom’s socio-economic development. The premier emphasized that vast untapped potential remains for both nations to broaden commercial and strategic partnerships, encouraging close coordination between the New Zealand Embassy and relevant Cambodian government ministries to capitalize on emerging opportunities.

The bilateral discussions encompassed a wide range of developmental priorities aimed at elevating long-term economic synergies. Both leaders exchanged perspectives on expanding trade and investment flows, accelerating modern technology transfer, developing green energy projects, and advancing tourism exchange. Additionally, talks focused on strengthening human resource development through specialized technical and vocational education and training (TVET) alongside deepening people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.
