Cambodia mulls reopening KTV & nightlife entertainment venues by end of November

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen has confirmed that the government will decide whether or not to allow the reopening of high-risk businesses such as KTV and other nighttime entertainment venues on 30 November.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, on Monday 8 November, PM Hun Sen said that the reopening of entertainment venues now is too early, which could lead to widespread infection especially if not properly controlled.

“Reopening KTV and bars must wait after November 30. I decided last night at the request of HE Aun Pornmoniroth, who chaired the meeting led by HE Mam Bun Heng. If we open too fast, there may be problems. Now, we have to reopen school first, because the infection rate is declining,” PM said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the reopening of the country is due to the strong participation of all people including the high vaccination rate among the population.
