Cambodia Achieves Over 7.7 Million Land Registrations, Eyes 2028 Completion

Cambodia has registered over 7.7 million land parcels nationwide, with only 1.5 million parcels remaining, marking substantial progress in its national land registration initiative. The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction (MLMUPC) aims to complete the registration process by 2028, further strengthening land rights and management.

Government Spokesperson HE Pen Bona shared this update during a press conference on 18 November 2024, titled “Peace as a Foundation for Progress towards Cambodia’s Vision 2050.

To date, the ministry has issued 7 million land titles, surveyed 3 million new parcels, and distributed 590,000 additional titles. These efforts are vital for preparing detailed administrative maps, infrastructure blueprints, and land use master plans, ultimately enhancing citizens’ livelihoods and economic opportunities.

The ministry is also expediting the issuance of state and collective land certificates, focusing on crucial areas such as the Tonle Sap Lake region, economic land concessions, and land associated with temples. Despite progress, Cambodia has faced challenges, including 15,690 reported land disputes, of which 14,919 cases have been resolved, leaving 1,041 disputes still under review. (Read more)
