Cambodia Property Awards Calls for More Entries to Help Promote Real Estate Quality

With the country’s rapidly growing real estate industry and the rising market competition, public and private experts have called for more entries for the annual ‘Cambodia Property Awards’ to help promote Cambodia’s real estate quality.

The Cambodia Property Awards is part of the regional Asia Property Awards program by PropertyGuru which was incepted in 2005 and now has a presence in 15 markets across Asia. The awards celebrate Cambodia’s finest real estate in different categories that meet the judging qualifications.

Speaking at the media roundtable held at Topaz Restaurant on 29 May, Mr Sorn Seap, founder of Key Real Estate and chairman of the judging panel urged for more developers to participate in the competition.

“We want to promote better real estate development, so I believe that entering the Cambodia Property Awards will benefit the participants,” he said, “when we all develop focusing on improving quality, it will make our real estate prosperous and sustainable.”

Citing the importance of this event, Oknha Nito H. Lim, managing director and co-founder of NI Development Co., Ltd who won multiple awards during the recent 2019 Cambodia Property Awards, said that winning the awards helps promote the company’s business.

“After I won the competition [2019 Cambodia Property Awards], we [company] got around 20 buildings [to design] within a few months,” he said while adding that the competition encourages real estate developers to improve quality.

H.E Chhann Sorphal, Director General of the Construction of the Ministry of Land Management Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC), also supports the program.

“A competition for something good, they [participant] get a reputation that will help their marketing, this is an assessment from the public sector for the creation of this program,” he said.

“We support the competition in order to reach excellence in real estate development in Cambodia,” he added.

According to Mr Sorn Seap, participants in the awarding granting ceremony had increased from more than 200 in 2017 to more than 300 in 2019 with awards categories increasing from 17 to 26 respectively. Citing that about 60% of the country’s developers participated in the program, Mr Seap hopes to see more developers participate in the coming years.
