Cambodia’s Takhmao Techo International Airport Nears Completion with 64% Milestone

In a significant stride towards becoming Asia’s largest and most advanced airport, Takhmao Techo International Airport (TTIA) in Cambodia has marked an impressive 64.1% completion of its first-phase construction as of February 8, 2024. Mr. Sin Chanserivutha, the Undersecretary of State and Spokesman for Civil Aviation provided this update during an inspection alongside Dr. Mao Havanal, Minister in Charge of Secretariat of Civil Aviation, and Duke Charlves Vann, Director of Cambodia Airport Investment Co Ltd, on February 15, 2024.

With an estimated cost of $932 million for the first phase completion, TTIA is poised to redefine global aviation standards upon completion. The accompanying infrastructure development is equally noteworthy, as the newly constructed access road leading to the airport has achieved an impressive 85% completion.

Stretching 13.5 kilometers and boasting a width of 60 meters, this road connects Samdech Techo Hun Sen Blvd. to the burgeoning airport, ensuring seamless accessibility for travelers.

Mr. Sin Chanserivutha affirmed that the airport is on track for its scheduled opening in the first half of 2025, marking a significant milestone for Cambodia’s aviation landscape. As Takhmao Techo International Airport approaches completion, it stands as a testament to the country’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge infrastructure and positioning itself as a regional aviation hub.
