Cambodia’s Rice Exports Showcase Remarkable Growth in 2025

In a significant boost to its agricultural sector, Cambodia reported impressive rice export figures in the first seven months of 2025. The country earned over USD 300 million from exporting more than 420,000 tons of rice, highlighting the growing importance of this staple in the Cambodian economy.

According to a report released by the Cambodian Rice Federation on August 7, 2025, the nation exported exactly 420,572 tons of rice during this period, valued at USD 309.2 million. The report details a diversified export strategy involving 51 rice-exporting companies, which collectively supplied rice to 65 global destinations. Notably, 26 European countries received a substantial 200,772 tons of Cambodian rice, valued at USD 156.92 million, showcasing Cambodia’s strong presence in the European market.

Additionally, exports to China and Hong Kong amounted to 105,621 tons, contributing USD 62.13 million, while seven ASEAN countries imported 57,179 tons, worth USD 40.14 million. Rice was also shipped to 32 other destinations, including Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, underlining the global demand for Cambodian rice.

The exported rice consisted of various types, with fragrant rice leading at 77.65%, followed by long grain white rice at 15.61%, parboiled rice at 3.27%, organic rice at 2.61%, and other varieties making up the remaining 0.86%.

Furthermore, Cambodia exported a remarkable 3,873,078 tons of wet rice, valued at approximately USD 914.21 million, underscoring the sector’s capacity and potential.

The rice sector’s growth is not only bolstering Cambodia’s economy but also playing a crucial role in supporting food security. In 2024, the sector generated nearly 2 billion USD, reflecting its significance in the agricultural landscape and the livelihoods it sustains. (Read more)
