Government approves four construction material factories worth US$25 million

The Cambodian government, through the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), has recently given permits to four firms to invest a total of approximately US$25 million in establishing their construction material businesses in Cambodia, which are expected to generate at least 1,100 jobs.

According to the CDC announcement, the four firms are Kaining Metal Product (Cambodia) Co., Ltd, Hong Yao Cable & Wire (Cambodia) Co., Ltd, Run Yang & Run Jie (Cambodia) Logistic Safety Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd, Cambodian Saiban Wood Co., Ltd.

Kaining Metal Products (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. will invest US$8.8 million to set up a manufacturing facility producing ornaments and home appliances. Meanwhile, Hong Yao Cable & Wire (Cambodia) Co., Ltd is planning to build a light bulb and cable manufacturing factor, with a capital investment of US$5.7 million.

Both projects will be located in the Svay Rieng Special Economic Zone and will help create at least 700 jobs for local people.

The third company is Run Yang & Run Jie (Cambodia) Logistic Safety Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which will invest US$9.1 million to set up a logistics and construction equipment factory. The last company, Cambodian Saiban Wood Co., Ltd., will invest about US$1.9 million to establish a furniture factory.

Both of these projects will be located in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone and will provide a total of 265 jobs to local people.
