CDC Approves Two Investment Projects Worth Over US$500 Million

The Council for the Development of Cambodia has officially approved private firms to invest in building two factories worth over US$500 million in Kampot and Kampong Kampong Chhnang provinces.

The first investment permit has been granted to Shunying Pulp and Paper Co Ltd, with the firm investing US$504 million to build a paper processing factory in Changhaon Village, Tuek Chhou District of Kampot province.

Meanwhile, the second firm is Shun Xin Luggage Industry (Cambodia) Co., Ltd, which received a permit to build a bag factory along NR5, in Spean Por village, Sameakki Mean Chey district in Kampong Chhnang province.

According to the CDC, both investment projects will create more than 3,800 jobs for Cambodians.

In 2020, the CDC approved a total of 238 investment projects, or equivalent to an investment value of US$8 billion. Of the 238 projects, 195 are new projects and 43 are production expansion projects. In total, those projects could help create at least 151,000 jobs. (Read more)
