Chinese Companies Aim to Boost Fruit Processing Industry in Cambodia

In a move signaling strong economic collaboration, two prominent Chinese firms, Long Wo Agriculture (Cambodia) Co., Ltd, and Zhongbao (Cambodia) Food Co., Ltd, have announced plans to expand their fruit processing plants in Cambodia. This announcement followed a productive meeting with Minister of Commerce Cham Nimal on August 18, 2025.

During the meeting, representatives from both companies discussed the current landscape of processing and exporting Cambodian agricultural products. They expressed their commitment to enhancing their operations and sought the Ministry of Commerce’s support for their expansion projects. A key focus of the discussions was the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the purchase and sale of mango seedlings aimed at entering markets in China, the United States, and Europe.

Minister Cham Nimal showed strong support for the proposed expansions, highlighting their alignment with the Cambodian government’s goals of diversifying agricultural exports. She emphasized the importance of tapping into international markets and reiterated Cambodia’s strategic free trade agreements, which serve as vital pathways for increasing production capacity and competitiveness across the agricultural sector.

The Ministry of Commerce envisions that strengthened cooperation between the government and the private sector will bolster the capabilities of producers, processors, and exporters. This collaborative effort aims not only to enhance exports but also to elevate Cambodia’s standing in the global market, ultimately contributing to economic growth and sustainability.

As Cambodia continues to pursue opportunities in the agricultural sector, these developments mark a significant step towards establishing the nation as a key player in the international fruit market.
