Beijing Urban Construction Group Explores Water Treatment Initiatives in Cambodia

Samdech Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia met with Mr Li Daosong, President of Beijing Urban Construction Group Co., LTD (BUCG) at the Peace Palace on 7 December 2023 who shared details about the company’s plans to conduct feasibility studies for water treatment projects in Cambodia.

The proposed initiatives focus on establishing water treatment systems in both the eastern and western regions of the Mekong River, along with the creation of a dedicated human resource training institute specializing in water and sewage treatment.

Mr Li Daosong highlighted the company’s commitment to investing in water and wastewater treatment projects across various Cambodian provinces and cities, including Battambang, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Sihanoukville, and Serey Sophorn City. He also expressed the company’s intention to introduce new technologies to enhance project implementation and contribute to Cambodia’s overall development.

During the meeting, Samdech Hun Manet commended Beijing Urban Construction Group for its significant contributions to the country’s development, particularly in public infrastructure and health. The prime minister acknowledged the company’s various investment projects in wastewater treatment and clean water, emphasizing the positive impact on public well-being.

Furthermore, he appreciated the collaboration with the Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport, fostering the training of essential human resources in key areas such as wastewater treatment, drainage, urban and suburban railway construction, as well as road and bridge development.
