Construction almost complete on 34 roads in Sihanoukville

After eight months of construction, the 34-road project in Sihanoukville is almost 100% complete, according to a National Committee for Coastal Management and Development of Cambodia press release dated 17 July 2020.

The major parts of the project have almost finished, including the concrete road (99.92%), the drainage installation (100%), granite paving (59.99%), granite floor (4.48%), streetlights (23.89%), and smart streetlights (45%).

The Sihanoukville Provincial Administration is also preparing to rehabilitate the beach by constructing two wastewater treatment plants. The first one with a capacity of 5,200 cubic metres per day is located near the Sunshine Bay Hotel (20% complete). The second with a capacity of 7,200 cubic metres per day is nearby the Sokha Hotel (10% complete).

In addition, the provincial administration will repave the roads around beaches, set up traffic signs and lights, install security cameras, and build parking lots and public bathrooms along the coast.

With construction beginning on 16 November last year, these 34 roads have a total length of 82km and cost over US$300 million. The project has been constructed by seven different companies and is expected to take eight months to complete. (Read more)
