Construction Firms Urged to Register

Robust growth over recent years has seen the construction industry become one of the pillars of the Cambodian economy with more than 1,000 companies operating in the sector. To ensure legal compliance as well as guaranteeing construction quality and standards, the Ministry of Land and Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) has urged all construction firms to register their operations with the MLMUPC.

Speaking at the Cambuild’17 expo opening event on Diamond Island in September, Phoeung Sophorn, Secretary of State at the MLMUPC said 1,016 construction firms have registered to do business in the kingdom, 311 of which are international companies.

The ministry also warned those who fail to register with the ministry saying that, “Without registration, they [construction firms] will be facing the Cambodia construction law, or their firms will be shut down.”
