Construction of Koh Tonsay Tourism Port 55% complete

Construction of Koh Tonsay Tourism Port is now 55% complete and is scheduled to finish by August after delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and technical issues.

Kep Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport Director Mam Touch said during a press conference on 02 February that the port will have total area 3,400 square metres with depths varying from 3 to 4.70 metres.

“This port will be able to accommodate two types of cruise ships. The first type of ship can travel 56km offshore, and can carry 30 to 100 people. The second can go up to 193km offshore, and can carry from 100 to 300 passengers,” said Mr Touch.

The project has been under construction since 2020, and it was built as part of a plan to improve the maritime network in the region by connecting to another port in Kampot province. (Read more)

In addition to this project, over 200 development projects and four major tourism development destinations have recently been included in the draft of Kep Tourism Master Plan (Read more)

Moreover, Kampot and Kep provinces are also currently compiling an investment guidebook with the aims to attract more development projects. (Read more)
