Construction on Koh Rong Samloem Solar Power Supply Begins

The construction of a solar power hybrid microgrid on Koh Rong Samloem has begun and is scheduled for completion by April 2021, according to Yahoo Finance on 30 November.

This project is a collaboration between Total Solar Cambodia and Canopy, which will be able to supply electricity to more than half of the population and businesses on Koh Rong Samloem upon completion.

The project includes a 1.25MWp power plant, a 2MWp battery system, a diesel generator and smart controller, making it one of the largest renewable energy project in Southeast Asia. (Read more)

The project will be constructed by Canopy Power, while Total Solar Cambodia will invest, manage and operate the project.

According to the same source, there are around 60 businesses such as guesthouses, hotels, resorts that are still using expensive diesel power generators which are unreliable and negatively affect the environment.
