Darasakor International Airport Opens Its Doors in Koh Kong

Koh Kong Province has marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of Darasakor International Airport on December 26, 2024. This $200 million investment, overseen by the Chinese company Union Development Group, represents a major advancement in Cambodia’s aviation sector and is set to transform travel in the region.

The airport officially welcomed its first domestic charter flight, an event celebrated with a ceremonial Krong Pali led by the honourable HE Dr Mao Havannal, Minister in charge of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation. His presence underscored the importance of this new hub in enhancing connectivity within the country.

Before its inauguration, Darasakor International Airport underwent rigorous inspection during a two-day test run on September 29 and 30, 2024, verifying the readiness of its facilities for operational use. The airport, sprawling over 218 hectares in the scenic Botum Sakor district, has been designed to handle 4E category aircraft, accommodating small to medium-sized planes. (Read more)
