20 Investment Projects Proposed in Siem Reap Development Master Plan

At least 20 major investment projects have been proposed as part of the 2020-2035 Siem Reap Tourism Development Masterplan during an inter-ministerial meeting last week.

The meeting was joined by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and the Siem Reap Provincial Municipality. During the meeting, the committee agreed to set up governance and institutional mechanisms along with investment strategies (public and private) to support tourism development and implement the master plan of Siem Reap province.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Tourism Top Sopheak told Construction & Property Magazine on 13 July that the master plan is vitally important as a guide for development. Meanwhile, the results of the meeting will be completed soon and will be submitted later for the government’s approval.

“I cannot inform about the master plan details to the public yet since it is still in the stage of inter-ministerial discussion. After getting the approval from the government, then we will be able to talk in detail,” Mr Top said.

Regarding the Siem Reap development plan, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport is also planning to build 38 more roads in Siem Reap to enhance the economy and beauty of the province, as well as to help connect the city centre to the rural areas. (Read more)
