30-megawatt Solar Power Plant in Pursat Goes Online

A 30-megawatt solar power station in Pursat province has started generating power to the national grid, while three other approved projects are set to generate power by late 2020.

Located in Krakor district, the project was approved by the government in April last year, and implemented by Schneitec Infinite Co Ltd with an investment value of US$29 million.

The power from the station has been linked to the grid through the newly-built 230KV substation in the province.

Director-General of Energy at Ministry of Mines and Energy HE Victor Jona said on that this station is the first to start operation among the four projects approved April 2019 with a total power output of 140-megawatt. (Read more)

He added that the other three projects are set to generate power by late 2020.

“More clean energy has been generated and linked to the grid. As planned, at least 450 megawatts in total will be generated from solar by 2022,” said HE Jona.

According to HE Victor Jona, to date, there are many solar plants in Cambodia including a solar station in Bavet generating 10 megawatts to the grid, an 80-megawatt station in Kampong Speu, a 60-megawatt station in Kampong Chhnang, and another 5-megawatt station in Bavet.
