New underpass planned for Russian Federation Blvd

Phnom Penh City Hall has unveiled a plan to build a new underpass on Russian Federation Road in front of the Royal University of Phnom Penh to facilitate student travel.

The tunnel project was discussed at a meeting held on 9 January in the presence of the Phnom Penh governor Khoung Sreng.

The tunnel construction will be built in front of the Royal University of Phnom Penh and the Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL) located in Teuk Laak I commune, Toul Kork district, Phnom Penh.

The underpass will facilitate the travel of students attending the Royal University of Phnom Penh and the Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL) and decrease traffic congestion at that area.

Currently, there are two underpasses in Phnom Penh, which are located at the 5-January flyover and the Stung Meanchey flyover.

To facilitate pedestrian travel, Phnom Penh City Hall has constructed five pedestrian footbridges in Phnom Penh and also plans to build more pedestrian overpasses, especially in front of schools, hospitals and markets to facilitate ease of pedestrian commuters.
